Dancing Feet
by Lindsey Craig and Marc Brown
Available in board book, hardcover, and Kindle formats. (Amazon)
Dancing Feet is behind the same creative team that brought us Farmyard Beat, which H. unceremoniously dumped into a woodchipper back in the very first match-up. Much like it's predecessor, Dancing Feet features fun rhymes and animals shaking their proverbial groove thangs. This is another book that H. really loves, probably aided by the fact that it's the first of his books that I could easily recite backwards and forwards from memory. I shudder to think of what percentage of my very expensive college education has likely been erased from my brain in favor of the words to children's books at this point.
Baby Reindeer
by Yu-Hsuan Huang
Available in board book and Kindle formats. (Amazon)
Finger puppet books are all the rage with the fashionable toddler set these days, and this won't be the last one you see in the tournament. Baby Reindeer follows the titular cervidae as it forages for food and migrates across the tundra. Refreshingly, there are no jolly elves involved.
I'm not entirely sure why there's a Kindle edition of this book, since most of the charm is in the actual finger puppet, but who am I to argue with our e-book overlords?
Match-up Analysis
Dancing Feet comes into this match-up as another seemingly "total package", which so far has meant that it's absolutely going down. And despite it's low seed, Baby Reindeer is a pretty frequent reading request. All told, this could be a surprisingly close match-up.
Prediction
Baby Reindeer in a photo finish.
Results
Proving that toddlers are completely predictable in their unpredictability, H. went with Dancing Feet.
Up Next
Dancing Feet will battle it out with the winner of A Charlie Brown Christmas and Three Little Kittens on April 12th.
