Round 1: (4) I Am Albert Einstein vs. (13) Peekaboo With Spotty Dog

Is a literal genius enough to beat some friendly pets? Let's find out!

I Am Albert Einstein
by Brad Meltzer and Christopher Eliopoulos
Available in paperback, hardcover, and Kindle formats. (Amazon)

H. LOVES I Am Albert Einstein. He picked it up one day and flipped to the page that features his iconic birthday picture, which he seemed to find hilarious, and he's been hooked ever since. Much like I Am Martin Luther King, Jr., this book covers Einstein's life, and while it of course discusses his important scientific discoveries, it also touches on his other interests, such as sailing and cycling.

Peekaboo With Spotty Dog
by
Available in hardcover format. (Amazon)

I've mentioned the collection of British books that H. was given a few times before, one of which was Peekaboo With Cheeky Monkey, a lift-the-flap book which will be a part of tomorrow night's match-up. He liked Cheeky Monkey so much that we had to hunt down the rest of the series, which involved a desperate email to a friend in London when they only showed up on Amazon US for about $30 a pop. The Amazon price appears to have gone down somewhat since, but once we had them in hand, we discovered a pile of new ones selling for list price at our local Ollie's. Of course.

H. has since decided to make a snack out of the flap that hides the kitty in the book, so maybe we'll be picking up a new copy from Ollie's anyway.

Match-up Analysis

While I Am Albert Einstein is a big hit for daytime reading, I think it will suffer from the same setbacks that I Am Martin Luther King, Jr. had, namely, that it's long, and H. has the attention span of a goldfish. Put up against a lift-the-flap book, especially one featuring kitties and puppies on every page, I don't think it stands much of a chance.

Prediction

Peekaboo With Spotty Dog in a blowout

Results

Peekaboo With Spotty Dog for the win.

Up Next

Peekaboo With Spotty Dog will challenge the winner of Peekaboo With Cheeky Monkey and Big and Tall, Far and Near on April 17th.
