Round 1: (7) Superheroes Busy Bodies vs. (10) Count To Five

Let's learn some toddler basics.

DC Superheroes Busy Bodies
by David Bar Katz
Available in board book format. (Amazon)

DC Superheroes Busy Bodies is from a line of books about, as you may have guessed, DC superheroes. We have several of them, because we are Giant Loser Nerds, and what's the point of parenthood if you're not forcing your kid to like the stuff you're into, right? Busy Bodies talks about the parts of the body in conjunction with the powers of various superheroes that will probably be featured in a movie coming to your local theater sometime in the next couple of years, as well as Plastic Man, who almost certainly will not. I guess he must test well with the preschool set or something.

Most importantly, though, it features Supergirl in her 70's bubble shorts costume, and I think we all know how important it is to teach kids about the things that are good and right in the world as early as we can.

Count To Five
by Small World
Available in board book format. (Amazon)

Last year, H. was given a selection of books from the UK that included Count To Five. As far as I can tell, none of the books are available new in stores in the US, and I have no idea where the family member who gave it to him found this book in Dogpatch, USA. It's a neat book, though, with textured pages, which was a thing H. was EXTREMELY into last summer, and still enjoys from time to time today.

Match-up Analysis

Both books in this match-up are wild cards - Busy Bodies doesn't see a lot of action, and Count To Five is an old favorite, but similarly, gets passed over a lot these days in favor of something with one of the Big Three (kitties, cows, and cars). This will be a close one, and it's anybody's guess how it will turn out.

Prediction

Superheroes Busy Bodies ekes out a win.

Results

H. waffled on this for a minute, but ultimately went with Superheroes Busy Bodies

Up Next

Busy Bodies goes up against Moby Dick on April 10th.
