Round 1: (8) Bubbles, Bubbles vs. (9) Numbers Colors Shapes

Getting back to fundamentals.

Bubbles, Bubbles
by Nobody In Particular
Available in board book format. (Amazon)

Bubbles, Bubbles joins the Sesame Street Babies on bath night to discuss bubbles. There's some stuff about the body parts and counting in there, too. I've honestly never quite understood the tactic of taking a character that's primarily marketed to children and infantilizing them to be specifically for babies. H. already loves the Sesame Street characters, you certainly don't have to slap them in diapers to get him interested. But, hey, whatever sells the book, I guess.

Numbers Colors Shapes
by Roger Priddy
Available in board book format. (Amazon)

This is another First 100 book, although to be honest, I'm not really sure there's 100 anything in here. As advertised, the first chunk of the book covers numbers, colors, and shapes, but then wraps up with some other stuff, such as time and places. This had been the least favorite of the First 100 books we owned, possibly due to the lack of the Big 3, but it's recently piqued H's curiosity more frequently.

Match-up Analysis

Bubbles, Bubbles has the advantage of Sesame Street characters, which H. is a fan of, but by the same token, Sesame Street books haven't been doing great in the tournament so far. Numbers Colors Shapes has been gaining a lot of steam lately, which gives it a good leg up. Really, it will all come down to the mood at game time.

Prediction

Bubbles, Bubbles in a narrow win.

Results

Sesame Street books are now 0 for 2 as Numbers Colors Shapes wins the match-up.

Up Next

Numbers Colors Shapes will try its luck against Good Night Gorilla on April 16th.
